Managing Partners
vivekVivek V. Talvadkar
is Managing Partner at KV Kumar & Associates LLC. He has over 30 years experience in international finance, including the management of investment and advisory services departments and structuring of joint ventures, project loans and equity transactions.

Mr. Talvadkar's previous professional experience includes twenty-five years at the World Bank Group. His last position was as Director of Power Investments, International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank, where he was responsible for formulating and implementing IFC's global strategy for energy sector investments, structuring of project finance transactions, and development of new business opportunities through senior level contacts with international companies, investment banks, local government agencies and financial institutions, and development agencies. He managed a $2 billion investment portfolio, with investments in power generation & distribution, renewable energy and energy efficiency. Prior to that Mr. Talvadkar managed the privatization of government assets and fee-based consulting and advisory business in Latin America and Eastern Europe. He also was Special Assistant to the President of the World Bank.

Mr. Talvadkar also served as Senior Vice President, International Programs of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). In this capacity, Mr. Talvadkar was Managing Director of NRECA's two subsidiaries, NRECA International Limited and NRECA International Foundation. He was responsible for NRECA's overseas electrification activities including program development and fundraising. These activities focus on community-based and consumer-driven electrification approaches in developing countries, including the deployment of renewable energy. Since inception, NRECA's international activities have provided electricity to over 100 million people in developing countries.

Mr. Talvadkar received his MBA from the Harvard Business School, his M.S. from Cornell University, and his B. Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai, India.

Mr. Talvadkar has made various présentations on project finance, privatization and joint ventures at conferences sponsored by euromoney, Financial Times, World Economic Development Congress, Forbes, World Energy Council, International Bar Association, Electric Power Research Institute(EPRI), and Confederation of Indian Industry. He has also spoken on international electrification at various conferences sponsored by multi-lateral and bi-lateral funding organizations and developing country government agencies.

Mr. Talvadkar was past member of the Board and past Chair of the United States Overseas Cooperative Development Council (OCDC); past NRECA Shareholder Representative to the Rural Electrification Finance Corporation (REFC), Philippines; past Member of the Board of the Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (IDFC), India; past member of Habitat for Humanity's International Advisory Group and past member of the Board of DC Habitat for Humanity.

Mr. Talvadkar is proficient in spoken and written English and Hindi, and conversational Portuguese and Spanish. He actively bikes, hikes and snowshoes in Colorado and the Himalayas and has traveled to 72 countries and all of the 50 United States.
